Unexciting

"Neevevaro" is said to be based on a Tamil hit movie "Adhe Kangal". The basic plotline sounds good. However, the screenplay is not at all tight. The "villain" is a surprising element in the story, the angle of 'villain' is completely new. It has not been explored before. If only, writer Kona and director Harinath had made the entire movie gripping like the climax portions, the result would have been different. It finally ends up as an bland thriller with some better moments in the second half. On the whole, "Neevevaro" has interesting concept, but it lacks consistent exciting narration and bores.

Only For Few Thrills

The director, Harinath, adapted to Kona Venkat's riddled script and does well to an extent. On the whole, Neevevaro is a typical suspense drama that banks on an ensemble star cast and a slick technical team. The core plot evokes a few emotions but falls short of intensity in the pre-climax episodes dipping the excitement factor when it matters the most. Decent comedy from Vennela Kishore works well in the second half but that is not one would expect from an intense suspense thriller. Also, the screenplay fails to pack a punch once the conflict point is revealed making it just a below-par watch this weekend.

The most thrilling aspect (on the paper) of this film is the identity of the antagonist. So, much care should have been taken in building an enigma around the character. Aadhi Pinisetty fares well by and large. He is convincing for the most part but one feels he needs to be more versatile with expressions. Taapsee Pannu delivers an intelligent performance and she has chosen a fairly well-written (if not perfectly written) role after 'Anando Brahma'. Achu Rajamani-Prasan's music and BGM, as well as Sai Sriram's cinematography, are fine. Prawin Pudi's editing is smart. A remake, 'Neevevaro' doesn't have edge-of-the-seat moments. There is a lack of urgency in the proceedings.

A Thriller Plot Wasted!

Neevevaro has a good plot that can make a fine thriller. However, it has been dealt in a lethargic fashion that it hardly excites in spite of the mystery element. The lack of emotional connect with the lead character's pain is another weakness. Whole film is based on the twist that comes before the pre climax and that can be easily guessed by an average viewer. Neevevaro would have been a movie that fits the current trend of novel movies if done well. Poor screenplay and silly attempts to fit in comedy into a serious plot marred its chances of impressing the target audience.

Comedy Kills Thriller

Hari Nath supposedly makes his debut with Neevevaro. He has in his hands solid content that could engage the audience throughout and also make it look like a fresh entertainer. The direction and the screenplay are the movie?s biggest weaknesses. The director has not been able to handle the content in an engaging manner. Just recently there was RX100, it is not the same thing but operated in a similar space. The way it stuck to its narrative without deviations is what was needed here and that?s an alternative take.
